A crew of 10 scouts and adults from Troop spent two weeks in June & July hiking and exploring the Pyrenees mountain range of Spain, France and Andorra. We several days in each of some of the Pyrenees' most scenic areas, including Jaca, Spain - original capital of the Kingdom of Aragon and our base from which we climbed the Peña Oroel as our acclimation hike. Posets-Maladeta Natural Park, Spain - staying at Refugio Renclusa, our mountain hut base for climbing expeditions to Monte Anneto, highest peak in the Pyrenees, and some of the surrounding peaks. Refugio Respomuso, Spain - in the Tena Valley near Sallent de Gállego. Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park, Spain - UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and World Heritage Site - staying at Refugio de Góriz, the first of the refugios or mountain hostels. We passed into France via the small country of Andorra to finish out our hiking by following the GR10 route down to its eastern terminus in the Mediterranean resort town of Banyuls-sur-Mer.
